Summertime is in full swing! Know what that means? Time to enjoy the sun’s rays and all the outdoor activities! And nothing says it’s summertime more than enjoying your time on the water with the right water safety gear.

Life Vests are an Important Part of Water Safety Gear
Life Vests Keep Your Head Above the Water
When you are out on the water things can happen; some things you can’t always foresee. You want reassurance that should things tip in the wrong direction, you’re going to be just fine. Our Fly Racing adult life vests give you that guarantee and let you keep on running — or swimming — forward!
An article from the US Coast Guard (USCG) highlights valuable water safety gear key points, and why it’s important to wear a life vest out on the water. This is especially true for open waters. Life vests give you a safety net. They have an extra layer which gives you buoyancy so your head can stay above the water should you take a spill. It even gives you a little extra cushion if you end up hitting that water just a little harder on impact than you thought.
Just make sure the life vest you’re looking at is US Coast Guard approved. To be US Coast Guard approved, it means the manufacturer has met all the USCG safety requirements for water safety gear. Otherwise, that vest might not be as reliable as you were hoping it would be. But we’ve got you covered on that front as well! Our life vests are US coast Coast Guard approved Type iii, meaning they are perfect for all those water sports activities.
Fly Racing Life Vests – Excellent Water Safety Gear
The Fly Racing Neoprene Life Vest for Men
We have our men’s size life vest and currently available to you. Yes, it also has a few more bells and whistles. This is a little bit different than our other product. Instead of Nylon, we have neoprene life vests; neoprene is a stretchy, comfortable material that gives you a little more cushion. It’s stronger too. It’s been strength tested at 50 mph, so feel free to make those daredevil stunts on that jet ski.
The Fly Racing Neoprene Life Vest for Ladies
Remember that extra secure fitting we were talking about? This neoprene women’s life vest includes a zipper closure with 2 belt straps for that extra bit of security and tight snug. Not to worry, this extra bit of protection won’t restrict you at all. It’s fitted with extra large armholes for freedom of movement. Feel free to do the funky chicken while in your vest. We guarantee you can still have at those killer dance moves.
Just like our other vest this one also comes in a variety of colors and patterns from blue to yellow, or red and black, or pink and green to set you apart from the rest!
Tips and Tricks for Your Life Vest!
It’s Time for Your Water Safety Gear Fitting
Remember, the fit is snug, but not tight. You should still be able to move and breath in it, and it should have a little give. Don’t forget, materials like Neoprene stretch when they get wet, so if it feels slightly tight when you first put it on, that’s exactly what you want.
Gear up and Go’s blog on all things sports and apparel were able to put out fun and easy tips for you and your friends. This helps you to find out if your life vest is not too big, not too small, but just the right size.
Touchdown: Once your vest is on and in place, all straps and zippers are right where they should be, lift your arms above your head like you’ve just scored the final point at the big game. Your vest should move a little with your arms (but not much). You should be able to move your head from side to side without having anything blocking your vision. If it’s touching your chin you may need to adjust the straps or find a size that is smaller than the one you have on.
Turtle check: Have yourself (or a friend) pull up on your vest. It shouldn’t move up more than a few inches on you. If it’s hitting your chin it’s too lose you might have to adjust a few straps to properly ensure the fit.
Wading out: The final ol’reliable trick. When it comes down to it nothing beats wading out into the shallow water and submerging yourself up to your chest or shoulders. Does it go up a couple of inches up or are you suddenly seeing the inside of your supposedly very secured vest?
The fit is everything for water safety gear!
